Indian skipper Rohit Sharma became the first batter in the history of test cricket to achieve this massive feat in red-ball cricket following his attacking half-century against the West Indies in the 2nd innings of the second test. The 36-year-old has registered his 30 consecutive double-digit figures in the longer format of the game.
The previous record was held by the legendary Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene in test cricket who had 29 consecutive double-digit scores for Sri Lanka in test cricket. The Indian captain has grown up in ranks in red-ball cricket in the last couple of years providing a much-needed start for the Indian team.
The Indian openers once again continued their fine form in West Indies following their brilliant batting performance in the 1st innings. Rohit Sharma played exceedingly well in the 2nd innings, as he played an attacking knock to score his second half-century in the game followed by a brilliant century in the 1st game as he showed a lot of composure to score runs in the away conditions.

Team India’s Opening partnership has been a cause of concern in the last couple of years, as the Indian openers could not give their side a much-needed start at the top of the order, with KL Rahul and Shubman Gill being inconsistent in the longer format of the game but it looks like Yashasvi Jaiswal would get a long rope to prove his mettle at the top of the order alongside Rohit Sharma.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma now have the joint most century partnership in away series tying up with the likes of legendary Sunil Gavaskar- Chetan Chauhan, Virender Sehwag-Aakash Chopra and Wasim Jaffer-Virender Sehwag thus becoming the fourth successful pair to two successful century partnership for India.

Coming into the game, India declared their 2nd innings for 181-2 on Day 4 with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan playing counter-attacking knocks to set a massive target of 365 runs for the West Indies team. The Men in Maroon were 76-2 at the end of Day 4 and they will fight it out hard to turn things around in the final day of the second test in the Queen’s Park Oval.
Rohit Sharma’s captaincy came under the scanner following India’s defeat against Australia in the recently-concluded World Test Championship final against Australia in Kennington, Oval. The 36-year-old failed to lead the Indian team to the ICC title in the 2022 T20 World Cup–and WTC final but the Indian skipper will look to turn things around in Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.
