Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has overtaken legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most wins as Indian captain after registering the 5th win as test skipper for the Indian team following the comprehensive win over the West Indies team in the 1st test of the tw0-match series at Dominica.

Rohit Sharma registered the fifth win from eight matches in test cricket, whereas Sachin Tendulkar had just four victories from 25 games as the Indian skipper. Virat Kohli has led India to 40 victories in 68 Tests. Kohli also holds the record for most Test matches as an Indian captain.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli led the team from the front during his tenure as the Indian team captain, as he was exceptional with the bat for the Indian team during his captaincy, as he batted the Indian team out of trouble in many matches, especially on chases.

Rohit Sharma’s captaincy came under the scanner following India’s defeat against Australia in the recently-concluded World Test Championship final against Australia in Kennington, Oval. The 36-year-old failed to lead the Indian team to the ICC title in the 2022 T20 World Cup–and WTC final, but the Indian opener will look to turn things around in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.

Overall The Years, We Have Done A Lot Of Good Things – Rohit Sharma

Earlier ahead of the West Indies tour, Rohit Sharma wants all the players to be available for the team selection going into the mega event and said that the team has been playing some good cricket for a long time which ruins a lack of luck for the team in the World Cup and added that winning a championship is their foremost aim going forward.

“Firstly, I want everyone to be available. All my players, I want them to be available 100 per cent. I don’t want any injury concerns. That’s first and foremost,”

“I feel that as long as you keep ticking the boxes, keep playing good cricket, things will fall into place. Overall the years, we have done a lot of good things. It’s just that sometimes you want luck to be on your side as well,” Rohit Sharma said.

Since India’s victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy, India has advanced to the ODI World Cup semifinals in 2015, the T20 World Cup final in 2016, the ODI World Cup final in 2019, and the 2021 and 2023 WTC Final but could not go one step further in the big tournaments.
