BCCI secretary Jay Shah heaped praise on the young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for his sensational debut for the Indian team in the longer format of the game. The Left-handed opener scored his maiden International Century on his debut test against West Indies on Thursday.

The Southpaw showed a lot of grit and determination to bat throughout Day 2 to score his first International century. Jaiswal is currently unbeaten on 143 after the end of Day 2 and will look to go score daddy hundred on the third day of the game.

Taking his Social media account, Jay Shah hailed Yashasvi Jaiswal for his brilliant debut in the International for becoming the young Indian batter to score a century against the West Indies team on their home soil and believes that the youngster has the talent to do special things for the Indian team in the future.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made it into the Indian team following a terrific IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals and a domestic season with Mumbai. The Left-handed opener will look to continue his fine form in the 1st innings as the Indian team will look to post a massive total in the 1st innings of the 1st test.

Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has surpassed the test runs of prolific Indian opener Virender Sehwag on the Day 2 of the 1st test of the West Indies series. The 34-year-old become the fifth-highest run-getter in the team surpassing the former Indian opener.

The prolific Indian batter went past the record of Virender Sehwag during the 2nd test of the West Indies series, the former Indian skipper remains unbeaten on 36 at the end of the Day 2 play and will look to continue his form going onto the Day 3 alongside young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Virat Kohli will also be hoping to end his overseas test century drought on the West Indies soil as it has been close to five years since he scored a century away from home soil. The 34-year-old last century came against Australia in 2018 and this is will best chance for the Indian batter to end his century drought in overseas soil.
