Hard-hitting West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell revealed that he would be available for the West Indies team for the 2024 T20 World Cup on home soil and admitted that he is willing to give up his franchise commitments to play for the country at the highest level.

West Indies team has struggled in recent years, as they could not perform well in the bilateral series and ICC events, as the two-time T20 champions failed to qualify for the Super 12 of the 2022 T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup later this year in India, as their performance is largely affected due to the availability of the players.

Speaking to the Jamaica Observer, Andre Russell wishes to play for the Men in Maroon in the T20 World Cup next year and said that it would be special to get into the team and reckons that he would like to play some bilaterals T2o series with West Indies building up to the marquee event.

“I am available. I want to be a part of the next World Cup so that would be something special to me if they can add me to the squad,”

“I am willing to play a couple of series to make myself available. I am not just going to turn up and say I want to play at the World Cup from nothing at all.” Andre Russell said

Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have been part of the Kolkata Knight Riders setup in the IPL, MLC, ILT20, and CPL, as they are not part of the West Indies in the last few years in International cricket. The Right-handed finisher last represented the country in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

I Am Willing To Do That And Try To Give Them The Best Chance In The World Cup – Andre Russell

Andre Russell is well aware of the fact that he needs to sacrifice a few franchise leagues to play for the country and said that he is open to doing that to play in the World Cup on home soil and added that he is available to play for West Indies in the five-match T20 series, but is unsure about the opportunity to play for the team.

“I know how everything works; I know I have to sacrifice a couple of leagues to play for West Indies. I am willing to do that and try to give them the best chance in the World Cup, and whatever I can contribute in whatever area, I am willing to do it,” Andre Russell maintained.

“There is an India series coming up that I would want to be a part of but no one has said anything to me and I am just minding my own business. I am just doing what I am doing — still training hard,” Andre Russell added.

The West Indies big-hitter could not finish the game for his sides in recent times as he has been inconsistent with performance in T20 Cricket over the last couple of years on global leagues and he will find his lost form soon to do well, wherever he plays the game.
