With many Cricket Experts and fans believe the 2023 ODI World Cup is the best chance for India to end their ICC title drought, it has already dealt a big blow with injuries to the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer.
The Indian team could not win a single ICC Trophy post-2013 Champions Trophy victory under the leadership of legendary MS Dhoni. Post-2013 Championship, the Indian team reached the semifinals and finals of the ICC tournaments consistently but failed to win a single trophy for the Country.
On the 40th anniversary of India’s World Cup win in 1983, Kapil Dev Spoke about India’s chance to go into the ODI World Cup, as he wants the India team to perform unitedly to win the trophy for the country and reckons that the team needs to be at its absolute best going into the marquee and added that success is not lied by sole performance, as it requires a full team effort to win the championship.

Kapil Dev led the World Cup victory in 1983 and redefined the game in the country, as the game reached the nook and corner country as nobody expected the Indian team to do too well in the 1983 World Cup. But under the leadership of Kapil, India managed to beat the mighty West Indies in the final to win the championship.

India has advanced to the ODI World Cup semifinals in 2015, the T20 World Cup final in 2016, the ODI World Cup final in 2019, and the 2021 WTC Final but could not go one step further in the big tournaments as the team fell short of the title, despite doing well in the league stages of the tournament.
Despite having a few big names to play for the country, India still lagged in cricket, for a major part in the 20th century, as they could not win ICC events in recent times despite having enough resources in the country.
