Cheteshwar Pujara’s father Arvind is confident about his son’s comeback to the Indian side after being snubbed for the West Indies tour starting on June 12. The experienced Indian batter was shown the door following his poor performance in the World Test Championship final.
The Indian veteran was dropped from the Indian squad for the West Indies tour following his poor performance against Australia, where he scored only 41 runs in the two innings for the Indian team getting out cheaply in both innings, failing to make an impact for the side in the much awaited final.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Cheteshwar Pujara’s father is confident about his son’s chances in the Indian team for the future series, as he always worked hard to make a comeback and revealed that he is still working very hard in the nets and preparing for the upcoming Duleep Trophy to prove his worth in the longer format of the game.

“He is mentally very strong. I can’t comment on the selection. But from what I have seen, he is batting at his best. In fact, he was working hard in the nets the same day post the WI team announcement. He has started preparing for the Duleep Trophy and will continue playing on the county circuit. As a father and coach, there is no reason for me to believe why he can’t comeback,” Arvind Pujara said.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is slated to play the role of the experienced Cheteshwar Pujara in the West Indies series as he did reasonably well in the 2022 Ranji Trophy and the Irani Trophy. With an eye on the future series, The Southpaw is expected to play all three formats for the Men In Blue.
Why Cheteshwar Pujara Been Made The Scapegoat For Our Batting Failures? – Sunil Gavaskar Questions Indian Selectors

“Why has he (Pujara) been made the scapegoat for our batting failures? He has been a loyal and quiet servant. But because he does not have millions of followers on platforms who will make a noise in case he gets dropped you drop him. What is the criterion for dropping him and keeping the others who failed?” Sunil Gavaskar Questioned.
Except for Ajinkya Rahane, entire Indian batters failed in the final against the formidable Australian bowling attack, as they failed to score runs in both innings, of which only Pujara has been dropped from the squad with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KS Bharat, And Shubman Gill retaining their spots in the team.
