Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer feels that Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson would not get a better surface to score big runs against the West Indies at the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. The 28-year-old could not make a significant impact for the team in the ongoing 5-match series against West Indies.

Sanju Samson could not put in a good performance for the team, as he failed to use the opportunity to score runs in the 1st T20 failing to help India cross the line in the game and also losing the chance to bat deep in the 2nd T20 as he threw wicket away in a tough situation in Guyana and didn’t get a chance to bat against Men in Maroon in third T20I.

Speaking in Espncricinfo, Wasim Jaffer said that talented Indian batter Sanju Samson is due for some big runs in T20 cricket and reckons that he won’t get a better ground to put an impactful performance, as the Pitch would favour the batters, as Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal would look to provide a good opening partnership for the team in the 4th T20I.

“He (Samson) is due some runs. This is a high-scoring ground where the ball will come onto the bat and he will like batting here. Whether it’s him or Shubman Gill or Jaiswal, if you’re in poor form, you won’t get a better pitch than this. So they need to make the most of it,” Wasim Jaffer said.

The Kerala batter will look to turn things around in the much-win game against the West Indies in the fourth T20 on Saturday, to put a match-winning performance for India on the Caribbean soil and his form in the next two games will be crucial for him to make it into the Indian side for the Asia Cup 2023.

Nicholas Pooran Is Their Trump Card, He Is Crucial To Their Chances Of Scoring Big – Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer feels that the captaincy responsibilities have helped the West Indies skipper Rovmann Powell to improve his game as the team depends largely on his batting alongside their trump card Nicholas Pooran and reckons that the Left-handed batter’s form would be crucial for the team if they need to put the big total in the fourth T20I.

“It seems like the responsibility of captaincy has had a positive impact on him. After Nicholas Pooran if there’s any batter who West Indies are dependent on, then it Rovmann Powell,” he stated.

“Nicholas Pooran is their trump card. He is crucial to their chances of scoring big. Because other batters apart from Powell haven’t been able to step up and they need to do better,” Wasim Jaffer added.

West Indies has done a good job against the mighty Indian team in the first three games of the five-match T20I series as they have done exceptionally well to win the first two games before losing the third game in Guyana and they will look to turn things around in the final two games.
