Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha hailed young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal for his brilliant century against West Indies on Thursday and believes that the Indian opener will look to take on the bowlers on Day 3 to post a massive total on the 1st innings.
The 21-year-old showed a lot of composure to start his innings against the West Indies pacers as he played fancy shots including reverse sweep and stepping down the ground. The Left-handed opener will look to continue his fine form in the 1st innings on Day 3 alongside Virat Kohli.
Speaking on Jiocinema, Pragyan Ojha lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal for his debut hundred on his 1st day and believes that day 3 will be crucial for the youngster as the wicket was a little tricky to bat on that surface as he will look to dominate the bowlers and cited the example of Virat Kohli taking some time to get runs in the middle and also feels that Virat Kohli has got great chance making a three-figure mark on this game.
“Day 2 was out and out Yashasvi’s day, the way he batted and got his maiden Test 100. On Day 3, it’ll be very crucial how he starts because it is not easy for a batter on this kind of tricky track to come on and take on the bowlers. So, as he gets his eyes in, I am pretty sure that he will look to dominate a few bowlers and raise the scoring rate,” Pragyan Ojha said.

“When we talk about the wicket it’s very tricky and not that easy for a batter to come and get those runs. We saw initially, Virat was trying to settle down. So, I think the longer time he spends in the middle the better the chances of him scoring the runs.
“The best thing is India has all the time in the world for them to give that little bit of a cushion where Virat can go out and look for that three-figure mark,” Pragyan Ojha added.
I Feel Somewhere Around 300-320 Will Be A Good Score – Pragyan Ojha
Pragyan Ojha wants the Indian team to be well aware of the fact the rain in West Indies as the game is being played near the coastal area and said that the team should plan according to plan, as feels that a lead of around 300-320 would put the pressure on the West Indies team.

“Because they are playing in a coastal area, they have to remember it may rain. And when it rains they must be prepared for it. If overs are lost due to rain, then I think India needs to plan accordingly. I feel somewhere around 300-320 will be a good score where they can put pressure back on West Indies,” Pragygan Ojha further added.
Virat Kohli remains unbeaten on 36 at the end of the Day 2 play and will look to go on to score big runs on Day 3 alongside young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Kohli will be hoping to end his overseas test century drought in the West Indies soil as it has been close to five years for him to score a century away from home soil.
