The decision to release their star spinner during the IPL 2022 auction came as a shock for many, as the Indian spinner played exceeding well for the team in tough conditions for the bowlers. The Indian spinner had been in fine form in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League, where he surpassed Dwayne Bravo to become the highest wicket-taker in the cash-rich league.
Speaking in the interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, Yuzvendra Chahal revealed that he felt bad when the released by RCB in 2021, as he played for the franchise for 8 years and said that he didn’t ask for more money as he knows what he deserves and added that he didn’t receive a single phone call from RCB regarding retentions, which affected him the most.
“I definitely felt very bad. It was in 2014 that my journey started. From the first match, Virat Kohli showed trust in me. But, it feels bad (about the decision) as I was playing for the franchise for 8 years.
“I saw people saying ‘Yuzi would’ve asked for a lot of money’ and such stuff. That is why I clarified in an interview that I did not ask for anything. I know how much I deserve. The worst thing is I didn’t get a single phone call from RCB. They didn’t even tell me anything,” Yuzvendra Chahal said.

Yuzvendra Chahal said that he had played around 140 games for RCB, but he didn’t have proper communication but his retention ahead of the 2022 season and admitted that he was angry seeing the team management letting him go and added that Chinnaswamy Stadium is his favourite stadium to play the game.
Yuzvendra Chahal has been the primary spinner for RCB over the years and he was replaced by Wanindu Hasaranga in IPL. The Sri Lankan Spinner had an exceptional season in 2022 picking up the most wickets for RCB but could not replicate his form in the 2023 season.
