Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal feels that he and Shubman Gill has a long way to go to be compared with the seasoned Indian opening pair Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in International Cricket. The 21-year-old scored an important half-century to win the game for India at Florida.
Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal formed an opening partnership of 165 runs the joint-highest opening partnership for India in T20Is to tie alongside the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in 2017. The duo played with a lot of intent against the West Indies batter to finish things off for India in 17 overs.
Speaking to the media after the thumping win over West Indies, Yashasvi Jaiswal is aware of the fact that they have a long way to go to achieve things that Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have done for India and said that he learns a lot for the seniors in the team and wants to use their advice to improve his game going forward.
“What they (Rohit and Shikhar) have done is amazing. They are legends of the game. I just think that we just need to go and try doing what we can do. We have a long way to go.”
“I go and talk with my seniors. We have amazing bunch of seniors like Rohit bhaiya, Virat bhaiya, Hardik bhaiya, Surya bhaiya and Rhaul sir. The way they talk. I make sure to listen to their experiences. I just try to gather as much information possible from their talks and put that in my game,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said.
The 21-year-old has been the standout performer for Rajasthan Royals in the recently concluded Indian Premier League and impressed everyone which his fearless approach to batting at the top of the order and has brought in the same approach in the International Cricket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he always believes in himself to do special things for the Indian team and wants to be disciplined in his routine and aware of the fact that he needs to work hard to do well for the team.
“I just keep telling myself that ‘I trust, I believe and I will do that.’ To achieve that I need to be disciplined, I need to eat well, sleep well, and practice hard. I think it is all about believing in yourself. You need to work hard, stick to your process and keep fighting”.
“There will be hope. Keep telling yourself that you can do this, and keep trusting in your abilities. Working hard is important, when the pressure comes that will help you,” Yashasvi Jaiswal added.
The Southpaw will look to continue his fine form going into the final and deciding T20 game of the five-match series and he will also be part of the India squad for the Ireland series and Asian Games 2023.
