Star Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is set to make history for India in T20 Cricket if he manages to get a consistent opportunity against West Indies in the ongoing series. The 33-year-old is the most successful bowler for India in the shorter format of the game despite not being given an opportunity in big games for India.

The Right-arm spinner was the pick of the bowler for India in the 1st T20 as he picked up two wickets in the same over in powerplay to put pressure on the West Indies bowlers in the 1st game and the Indian spinner currently has 93 scalps for India in the International Cricket.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the highest wicket-taker for India in T20 cricket and is just seven wickets short of becoming the 1st Indian bowler to pick 100 International wickets in T20 cricket to join the elite list of Lasith Malinga and Tim Southee in the shorter format of the game.

The wrist spinner is right at the top of the list of the highest Indian wicket-takers with out-of-favour Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin being the second and third wicket-taker in the list and among the current squad players Jasprit Bumrah and Skipper Hardik Pandya sits fourth and fifth in the elite list.

The Indian spinner has been in fine form in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League, where he surpassed Dwayne Bravo to become the highest wicket-taker in the cash-rich league and will look to do well in the forthcoming to seal his place in the Indian team for the ODI World Cup.

Yuzvendra Chahal wants to do well for the Indian team in the next four T20 matches and revealed that the team will have a camp post the completion of the West Indies tour before the squad for the Asia Cup is announced.

“At present, I need to perform well in the four matches. I think about one step at a time. After this series, we’ll have a camp and then the team will be announced. I am not thinking about Asia Cup or World Cup now, Team combination is our priority and it is not something new,” Yuzvendra Chahal said.

Though he has performed well for India, he could not find a place in the playing 11 in the 2022 T20 World Cup due to his playing combination. With a lot of cricket to be played in sub-continental conditions for the next six months, Rohit Sharma-led side will demand at least two to three spinners in the playing XI to dwell in the ODI World Cup 2023.
