The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has indicated that he might miss the opening phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli, during the post-match presentation after winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, speaking of the shoulder injury, said,
“It is still a few weeks to go till I can be 100 percent on the field. These things happen in your carer, just got to take it in my stride and move forward.”
With this, Kohli has himself raised few doubts over his availability for the first few games of IPL. It will be a big blow for Royal Challengers Bangalore as well, as the form in which Kohli is, him being ruled out is a bg loss for any team at any level.
RCB will kick off their campaign in the first match of the tournament against the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. Following that, they will play next two games within a period of one week on April 8 and April 10. However, any official confirmation on Kohli’s fitness is yet to be revealed.
Kohli was the star for RCB in the last edition of IPL as he scored 973 runs, which also included four centuries. He led RCB to the final of the league before Bangalore-based franchise lost the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
If Kohli misses the game then it will be a big blow for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s plans for the season as they have to get a makeshift captain. There might be a chance when AB De Villiers take over the captaincy role from Kohli for the number of games the regular skipper will be absent.
