India A Coach Paras Mhambrey Heaps Praise On Experienced Karn Sharma
Karn Sharma made his debut for India in the year 2014 and played all the formats of the game in the same year. From then, he is yet to represent the country and in past two seasons, totally got out of frame.
In IPL auction 2017, Mumbai Indians bought the out of frame player for a record price of Rs 3.2 Crore, and he also gave them full value for their money with some great performances in the season.
It was during his stint with the Mumbai Indians franchise when Paras Mhambrey, the bowling coach of the franchise, noticed the talented player and advised him to switch over to Vidarbha. Karn tendered his resignation from the government job, but incidentally, Paras Mhambrey was no longer part of the stateside as BCCI handed him a contract.
All that happened in Karn’s life is worth telling, but some more surprises were waiting for him. Till the time the first game Duleep Trophy was over, the India A squad to face New Zealand A was already selected and performance in that game wouldn’t have mattered. But the destiny had something else planned for Karn. Krishnappa Gowtham was dropped from the side, and it was Karn who was rewarded for his performance with a place in the A side.
There he joined Paras Mhamrey again, and straightaway came up with an eight fer in the first contest against the New Zealand A side. Karn, with his superlative show in the three pre-season first-class games, has again come back in the national frame and it will just be a matter of time when he might become a sweet headache for selectors due to his impressive performances.
Mhambrey was quite impressed with the performance of all-rounder and the India A coach heaped praises on the 29-year-old player,
“Karn has got a lot of experience at the First Class level. He has represented the country. He was part of the winning MI and Sunrisers teams. The most important point which I would look at is how keen he is. He wants to do well; he wants to play at the highest level for a longer time. This will help Vidarbha because if you have a pro who wants to do well, it lifts the whole team. His good performance will rub on to the other players,” Mhambrey told TOI.
Karn will add the much needed international experience in Vidarbha as Umesh Yadav is mostly absent from the team due to international commitments and Faiz Fazal is the only player with international expertise in the side. Karn’s addition is a big boost to the team, and surely the team will look to reap benefits out of the experienced player.
Vidarbha is yet to announce the squad for the upcoming season, and Karn is also a strong contender to take up the captaincy.
