India are strong contenders to win the T20 World Cup: Mohammad Yousuf
India is going to take on New Zealand in the evening in First Super 10 match of the ICC World T20 2016 at Vidarbha Cricket Stadium, Nagpur. Before the match starts,Mohammad Yousuf, former Pakistan captain said, India is a strong contender to win the ICC World T20 as he thinks they have the batting quality.
“India are a strong contender because their batting is very strong. They are capable of chasing big totals. In the warm-up match against South Africa they lost by 4-5 runs, chasing a total of 190 plus,” said Yousuf. “They are playing at home. They are the only team to have won the World Cup at home in 2011,” he added.
Mohammad Yousuf thinks T20 cricket is all about batting. “One thing is clear that unless our batsmen get big totals on Indian pitches, the team will struggle against the other top teams. ” Yousuf said.
Pakistan lost against Bangladesh in the recent Asia Cup in Bangladesh but Yousuf said Shahid Afridi-led team needed to be supported and encouraged.
“I think we all know the weaknesses of our team. We all know how Afridi plays. Now we can hope that the batsmen click enough to make a good totals for the bowlers to defend,” he said.
Pakistan will start their world cup campaign tomorrow against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
