After the third T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare, Indian team became the first team to play most number of T20 international matches in a calendar year. India played 19 T20 international matches in 2016. The previous record was held by Pakistan who played 18 T20 matches in 2010.
India played Australia in a 3 match T20 series , followed by 3 T20 match series against Sri Lanka. They played another five matches in Asia Cup T20, followed by another five matches in ICC World Cup T20 held in March- April. They completed the T20 season with another 3 match T20 matches against Zimbabwe which concluded today.
India won 15 out of the 19 matches in 2016. They have a win percentage of 78.94. The other successful team in the year so far has been New Zealand winning 8 out of 10 matches.
Pakistan played 18 T20 matches in the year 2010. The other teams have not played many T20 matches in any calendar year.
India won the first t20 World Cup in 2007. They reached the finals of ICC World cup held in 2014 and also made it to the semi-finals of World Cup in 2016.
India will not play any t20 internationals in 2016. The Indian team will play ODI and Test matches from now onwards this year.
India have done very well in shortest format this year. India are placed 2nd in t20 rankings at the present moment. Their next t20 series will be in 2017.
Meanwhile, India will play 13 Test matches. Indian team played some entertaining cricket in 2016 and we hope that the team would continue their form in Test matches and one-day internationals.
The Indian team also became the third joint team with most number of wins in T20 matches with 46 wins.
