India becomes the first team to whitewash their opponents in all three formats in the current year. This year has been a good year for the Indian cricket team.
After losing the ODI series against Australia 1-4, the Indian team came back strongly with an excellent performance to whitewash Australia 3-0 in their own den. Jasprit Bumrah in that series was exceptional. They continued their form in the Asia Cup, and in the series against Sri Lanka. In the World T20 held in March this year, India reached the semi-finals before losing to West Indies at Mumbai.
India faced Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series in June this year. Indian team rested the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli for the series. Indian cricket team performed well to win the series 3-0. KL Rahul was the star with good performances in ODI cricket. Karun Nair got a chance in that series.
With a long test season ahead, the Indian cricket team defeated New Zealand by 3-0 to reclaim the number 1 ranked team in the longest format. It was a team performance during the test series. With 5 match test series against England starting on 9th November, if the Indian team continues to perform like this, India may remain the number 1 ranked team in test matches for a long time.
