The cyclone which lead to cancellation of the 3rd ODI between India and West Indies ahs now ensured that India can no longer regain the Number 1 spot , even after they win the remaining of the 2 ODIs left against West Indies.
The other factor that went against India was Australia winning the 3rd ODI against Pakistan, that too after Pakistan had a firm grip over the match. Finally, Australia managed to win the game in the last over , thanks to some poor batting display from Pakistan and an exceptional last over from Maxwell. Pakistan needed 2 of the final over with 2 wickets left, but they could not score a single run and lost both the wickets.
Even if India wins the remaining 2 ODIs, they will be behind Australia in the fraction of points by .02 . Currently India is on 3rd position and they can improve it by winning the remaining 2 ODIs . If there would have been no cyclone and India finished the series 4-1 , India would have been ahead of Australia in fractions and could ahve regained the Number 1 spot. Australia currently has 114 rating points.
It took Australia just 5 ODIs to regain the Number 1 spot in the ODIs again. Australia lost the Number 1 spot after they were defeated by Zimbabwe earlier this year on 31st August.
