India To Host England In February 2021: Sourav Ganguly

India are set to host England in February 2o21 for a series confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly. The last series which was played on Indian turf was against Australia. The three-match ODI series was held in January 2020, which will mark a year in January 2021. The series against England will kick start international cricket again after almost a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, BCCI is working towards restarting domestic cricket in the country, stated Sourav Ganguly. In a letter to the state cricket associations, Ganguly mentioned that India will start hosting tournaments next year — and also the ODI World Cup in 2023, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Confirms England’s Tour Of India
Former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that England will tour India in February 2021, after India visit Australia in December. This will resume international cricket in India which had been halted due to the pandemic.
“The senior Indian men’s team will travel to Australia in December this year and will come back to the country for a series against England starting from February next year. This will be followed by IPL 2021 in April,” he wrote in the letter on Thursday night.
“In the domestic cricket context, we are currently in the offseason and the BCCI is making all efforts to ensure that domestic cricket resumes as and when the conditions permit. The health and safety of players and all other involved in domestic cricket is of utmost importance to BCCI and we are constantly monitoring all aspects,” it added.
Domestic Cricket to Start From Next Year As The Coronavirus Situation Eases
Regarding domestic cricket, Sourav Ganguly told that they are working to restart the campaigns and as the situation gets better they will kick-off domestic cricket.
“All members will be duly informed about the future course of action and suggestions will be taken before we resume domestic cricket. We are hopeful that the Covid-19 situation will improve over the next few months and we will be able to start domestic cricket in a safe and healthy environment,” added Sourav Ganguly in his letter.
The Indian cricket team last played International cricket against New Zealand in March when everything was halted due to the sudden outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The BCCI is currently focusing on IPL which will commence from 19th of September in the UAE. Earlier, IPL was scheduled to start in April, however, got postponed due to the lockdown owing to the surge in coronavirus cases across Kashmir.
