India falls to 7th spot in ICC Test rankings while remains at 2nd spot in ODIs.
India has fallen to the seventh spot in the latest ICC Test rankings for teams, while Australia is the second spot holder, right behind the test format leaders South Africa. With 95 rating points in their bag, India is just below the mighty Sri Lankans, who are with 96 points accredited to their credits. The Sri Lankans lost 2 – 0 to New Zealand in the last test series held in the home grounds of New Zealand, the same margin by which India lost the Gavaskar – Border Trophy series to Australia after managing to draw the back to back third and fourth tests, which was the final Test at Sydney.
As per trusted reports, India continues to remain at the second spot in the ICC ODI rankings, placed just after behind the baggy greens, Australia. Though both the teams have exactly 117 rating points each, Team Australia is well ahead when the decimal points are taken into due consideration. However, India could go into the ICC World Cup 2015 as the top ranked ODI side in the world if they somehow manage to win the upcoming tri national series against Australia and England by a considerable good and valuable margin.
India, on the other hand, continues to remain without even a single representative entity in the list of top ten batsmen, with Virat Kohli being the highest ranked for Team India at number twelve, while opener Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara are the only other two Indian batsmen in the top twenty five, with Ajinkya Rahane just missing out at the 26th spot. In the bowler’s rankings however, spin contributor of Team India, Pragyan Ojha is surprisingly India’s highest ranked bowler at number fourteen, just ahead of another spin wizaerd, Ravichandran Ashwin. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma rounds off the top 20, while Zaheer Khan is ranked at 24th position.
