India lose the T20 International against England by 3 runs
The 1st and the only T20 match of the series started on the back of the hammering England received at the hands of India in the ODIs. India gave Karan Sharma and Ambati Rayudu their first T20 cap and on the English side , Jason Roy got his cap. England won the toss and decided to bat first.
Thing could not have started better for England with 17 runs scored f the first over of Ashwin. Normally , Bhuvi bowls this over but in this match India opted to rest Bhuvi, simply because of how hectic the tour has been for him. But after that , India did manage to get the match in their favour , atleast for sometime. Jason Roy failed on his debut and then Moeen Ali went for a duck, after he received some unsporty treatment from the Indian fans when he came out to bat. Root did stabilise the innings but took just a bit more time before he perished for 26 of 29 balls.
But , then the onus fell on Morgan and he did not let England down. He played with some great authority and counter attacked Indian bowlers on his way to 71 of just 31 runs . No one else did do enough to make a mark but Morgan’s effort ensured that England reach to 180 runs in their alloted overs.
In the bowling department, everyone apart from Karan Sharma went for plent. Ashwin did come back , after going for 17 in the first over . Mohammad Shami picked 3 wickets but went for 38 runs . Rest everyone apart from Ashwin got a piece each. India were left to chase a target of 181 runs. India’s death bowlng was exposed again and England managed to score 81 runs in the last 5 overs.
India’s reply did not start well with Rahane dismissed by Moeen Ali of the second over of the innings, just after he scored a six of he previous ball. But then it was Kohli‘s day , a vey unusual thing in this English summer. Kohli along with Dhawan took India to safety. Dhawan departed after scoring 33 runs from 28 balls, trying to slog the ball in the leg side , something he was trying for lo long in the innings. Kohli departed on 66 runs of 41 deliveries and was caught at the square leg boundary.
India looked in a sort ot bother after Raina departed and followed by Jadeja soon. Dhoni , during the mean time was trying to extend the match to the last over and the required run rate increasd. India needed 17 of the last over and lost the match by 3 runs.
