India Men and Women Team to Tour New Zealand in January 2019
India Men and Women teams are all set to tour New Zealand in January 2019. The tour will take place at the end of the first month of next year. Virat Kohli’s men will play five One-Day Internationals and three T20I against the Kiwis. The first One-Dayer is schedule on January 23. On the other hand, Indian Women team will feature in three One-Dayers and as many T20I against the Blackcaps.
The three T20Is will be double-headers and would take place at Wellington, Auckland, and Hamilton. Meanwhile, the Women team will play their One-Day series at Napier, Mt Maunganui, and Hamilton.
India and New Zealand will like to get ready for the World Cup.
Furthermore, the A-teams of both the teams will also lock horns with each other. There will be three four-day games and three One-Day matches for the India A and New Zealand A sides.
New Zealand Cricket stated in a release, “The India A side’s visit to New Zealand corresponds with NZC’s increased investment in the A programme, as announced in the new NZC-NZCPA Master Agreement, last week.”
Anthony Crummy, NZC CEO, said, “We think it’s another strong schedule in which we’ve continued the philosophy of taking international cricket to some of our most popular boutique grounds over the school holiday period. It’s exciting to have the India men’s and women’s team here. The men are currently ranked No. 2 in ODIs and T20s – and the women arrive as ICC Cricket World Cup finalists.
“It’s also healthy to be driving greater exposure and appeal in the women’s game. All six of the WHITE FERNS’ fixtures will be televised live for the first time in New Zealand history.”
Meanwhile, New Zealand will begin their home summer against Sri Lanka. The Kiwis will play two Test matches, three ODIs and a solitary T20I against the Island nation. The Blackcaps series against India will be followed by a three-ODI and three Test match series against Bangladesh.
Consequently, the limited overs series between New Zealand and India will bring a perfect opportunity for both teams to get themselves ready for the World Cup. The last time these two teams had squared off with each other in a bilateral series, India won by 2-1.
