India Needs MS Dhoni’s Calmness In ICC World Cup 2019 – Sanjay Manjrekar

Of late, the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been the consistent performer for India. He started the new season with a bang by collecting the man of the series against Australia and then carried his form in New Zealand. Currently, he has been rested for the last couple of games in the ongoing series against Australia, who was replaced by Rishabh Pant. Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar explains the importance of MS Dhoni in the Indian team.

The last ODI between India and Australia at Mohali showed the importance of MS Dhoni in the side. Without him, Virat Kohli looked ordinary while the wicketkeeping looked pretty poor from the young Rishabh Pant.

He was pivotal in the rise of Chahal and Kuldeep – Sanjay Manjrekar

Meanwhile, speaking on the sidelines with Times of India, Sanjay Manjrekar explained the impact of MS Dhoni in the team. Further, he also quoted that his presence would help Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal to get their plans right.

”MS Dhoni’s place in the side is unchallenged. He doesn’t get out easily and there is no question about his wicket keeping skills. He has played a pivotal role in the rise of two wrist spinners (Yadav and Chahal). India needs Dhoni’s calmness in the World Cup,” Sanjay Manjrekar quoted.

India should use MS Dhoni as a floater:

Further, Sanjay Manjrekar suggested that India should use MS Dhoni as the floater of the team. He feels that there is no one better than Dhoni in the current Indian team to assess the conditions and play according to the situation.

”Another thing left to sort is the batting position of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Use him as a floater,” suggests Manjrekar. “Juggle his batting position based on the situation. Dhoni’s hitting form is very crucial, if India want to go all the way in the World Cup,” he added.

Well, as Sanjay Manjrekar said, India can’t go into the world cup without the experience of MS Dhoni. The other night at Mohali clearly showed the impact of his absence behind the stumps.

Apart from wicketkeeper, MS Dhoni can help the spinners in various ways by adjusting the fielding as per the line and lengths. He also takes out a lot of burden on the shoulders of Virat Kohli.
