After losing the fourth ODI at Ranchi by 19 runs, India will be looking to bounce back well to win the ODI series. India could not chase 260 in the previous match. Virat Kohli and Rahane were the only batsmen to score runs. The likes of Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, and Hardik Pandya could not contribute with the bat. Axar Patel and Dhawal Kulkarni tried their best but could not take India to win the series.
In the series decider at Vizag on Saturday, India’s top order, especially Rohit Sharma has to come good. Rahane and Rohit Sharma have not given the team good starts in the series so far with opening partnerships of 49, 21, 13 and 19 runs that have led India losing the two out of four matches. Virat Kohli, who has been in excellent form in the series, needs to come up with another big innings in order to help India winning the series.
After that, the youngsters like Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, and Hardik Pandya have not contributed with the bat. In the previous match at Ranchi, Manish Pandey got out playing a big stroke, while Jadhav could not open his account. Hardik Pandya also played a poor stroke and could not help India to win the series.
As far bowling is concerned, India conceded too many runs in the first 10 overs. India will bring Jasprit Bumrah in place of Dhawal Kulkarni. Indian spinners have done a brilliant job in the middle overs restricting the run flow and also picking important wickets. Amit Mishra, Axar Patel, Kedar Jadhav has been outstanding in the series so far.
With a batting pitch expected at Vizag, tomorrow, India must show their class and win the series by 3-2. It promises to be a mouth-watering contest as both teams would be eager to finish on a high.
India should bat first so that their batsmen can play aggressively and put the New Zealand batsmen under pressure.
Under Dhoni, India lost the series against Bangladesh, South Africa, and Australia. If MS Dhoni can pull off a series win against New Zealand, it will be a huge relief for India and MS Dhoni and will help India ahead of Champions Trophy.
