Watch – Mohammed Shami has Martin Guptill Packing in his 1st Over Itself

India has started well against the Kiwis in the ODIs. At the McLean Park in Napier for the first ODI, New Zealand batted first after winning the toss. Meanwhile, the India National Cricket Team fast bowler, Mohammed Shami had Guptill’s number in his first over itself. Also, it was Shami’s 100th ODI wicket too.

Shami puts India in front at Napier

Martin Guptill and Colin Munro opened the innings for the hosts. The right-handed batsman in the first over hit a four off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, in the second over of the innings, Shami had his number. Not only Guptill lost his wicket of an inside edge, but he was also facing some trouble with the moving ball. Deliveries before Mohammed Shami broke the opening partnership; he kept the NZ batsman silent.

On one delivery, the India pacer brought back the ball, which Guptill left and it hit straight on his pads. Though it appeared out in the first go, the umpire didn’t raise a finger. The team India then decided not to review the call, as the second thought suggested it could be missing the stumps.

However, it seemed like a plan, as Shami then bowled one outside the off stump before getting his wicket off the last ball. Martin Guptill, who didn’t look convincing at his stay at the crease chopped one onto his wickets; giving Virat Kohli and his teammates a reason to smile. Guptill scored five off nine deliveries.

Shami, who got recalled to the Indian team in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah attained his 100th ODI wicket as well.
