India vs South Africa: India On Top In Test Championship

On Tuesday (22nd October), India won the third Test match against South Africa in Ranchi ground. With this, India has clean swept Proteas in the three-match Test series which is the first time for India against South Africa in Test cricket history. Also, India has consecutively won the second Test series in the 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship.
South Africa was not able to set themselves in the Indian grounds. Faf du Plessis-led Test team was weak in all the departments. South African bowlers were not able to stop Indian batsman to set big totals. Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma scored double centuries in the Test series.
India On No.1 in Test Championship
India, in the Test series against South Africa, has gained 120 points in the Test Championship. The team is on the top of the points table with 240 points. India has played the most number of Test series in the inauguration edition of the World Test Championship (WTC).
India played first Test series against West Indies in WTC. During the Carribean tour, India played two-match Test series and clean swept the host. India gained 120 points from the Test series against Windies.
The next assignment for India in WTC was against Proteas. There also India clean swept the visitors and gained 120 points. So in total, India has now added 240 points in the WTC. It was the first Test series for Proteas in WTC which they were playing the first Test series after ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. They are still with zero points in the WTC points table.
India has played an equal number of Test matches in comparison with Australia and England in Test Championship. Australia and England with 56 points are on No.4 and No.5 respectively. Newzealand is in second place with 60 points.
The next assignment for India is against Bangladesh in home ground. India will play the two-match Test series and three-match T20I series next month against the neighbour state.
