India Won’t Face Pakistan in Group Stage of the 2020 World T20
On January 29 (Tuesday), the world cricket governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the much-awaited 2020 World T20. However, much to the surprise of fans, India is not going to face their arch-rivals Pakistan, this time around, in the group stage of the coveted event. Interestingly, there lies a strong reason behind it.
Moreover, since 2011 One-day International showpiece, India-Pakistan faced-off in five distinct ICC’s events. There’re bound to wrestle in the upcoming ICC 2019 World Cup. The 50-over competition will kick off in London on 30th of May.
However, coming back to what traditional rivals had on an offer, the spectators would certainly miss the group stage action between the two giants of the international cricket.
What is the solid reason that marred the possibility of India-Pak clash?
It’s their ranking which is bound to decide their place in two different groups for the mega event.
Concurrently, Pakistan is topping the chart with No.1 spot, whereas, Virat Kohli-led India is placed second in the Twenty20 International team rankings.
2020 World T20 – Final and Semi-finals; Venue and Dates:
According to the ICC schedule, the hosts Australia won’t be able to take on their Ashes rivals England in the group stage as they feature in two different groups.
Also, the competition witnessed that first eight teams have directly qualified for the tourney. However, No.9 and No.10 ranked Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively have to face the qualification round which includes other six teams. The fixtures will take place in Hobart and Geelong.
Besides, as many as four teams will make it to the T20 showpiece, for the Super 12s. Hosts will kick off the Super 12s while taking on Pakistan on October 24, 2020, in Sydney. India will take on the Proteas in Perth on the same day.
On November 11 and 12, the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and the Adelaide Oval will host the semi-finals.
However, iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will witness the grand finale on November 15, 2020.

Group A: Pakistan, Australia, West Indies, New Zealand, Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2
Group B: India, England, South Africa, Afghanistan, Qualifier 3, Qualifier 4
