After squashing the India Green in the last game, the India Blue will be up against the India Red in the final battle of colours. The Red, Blue and Green concept was a new one in Duleep trophy, BCCI added some more flavour to it by painting it with the whole tournament with pink colour.
The new concept attracted more audiences but took away the traditional way of playing Duleep trophy. The 50 years old Duleep trophy was merely used as an experiment which atleast did not amuse the fans who are not fond of pink ball and day/night cricket.
Coming to today’s final game, the BCCI has strengthened the arms of both the teams by adding international players to the roster. India Red will get services of Shikhar Dhawan, Stuart Binny and Amit Mishra for the finals whereas Rohit Sharma and Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will play for India Blue. The idea of adding these players to the squad was simple and clear, to let these player get a taste of pink ball and to provide them with much-needed practice on home soil before the New Zealand series.
This is the best stage for them to get themselves ready for the long home season which awaits Indian team in the nearby future. Along with that, this match is a lifeline for players like Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma who can sustain their place in the national team only if they perform here.
This will be an important match for the youngsters like Kuldeep Yadav and Nathu Singh who are looking to get a spot in the Indian team. Both of them have impressed in the tournaments far and a performance in the final game can get them what they want.
All the players have 3 days to impress the selectors as Indian team for the New Zealand series will be announced on September 12.
These 3 days are very crucial for all those who dream to play for the Indian team. Though a long domestic season awaits each and every player but this is the best stage to impress the selectors to achieve the future endeavours.
The match will be played in same conditions at the same ground. Captain winning the toss will love to do what Gautam Gambhir did in the last game, win the toss and bat for as much days as the team can bat. These have been key to success for teams in Indian domestic circuit.
