Twitter trolls Virat Kohli after his mistake saw Dhoni getting run out

India continued their domination over New Zealand as the hosts thrashed the visitors by 6 wickets in the first match of the five-match series at Dharamsala.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh won the toss and decided to bowl first on a pitch that was looking good for the bowlers. The Indian bowlers justified their skipper’s decision by completely dismantling the New Zealand batting lineup. Hardik Pandya, who was making his debut today, drew the first blood when he dismissed Martin Guptill in the second over of the innings. Umesh Yadav then dismissed Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor in quick succession to leave the visitors reeling at 33 for 3. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and crossing the 100-run mark was also looking tough for them after they were reduced to 65 for 7. But opening batsman Tom Latham held firm from one end and shared two important partnership – 41 runs with Doug Bracewell and 73 with Tim Southee to take his team to a respectable total. The Kiwis were eventually dismissed for 190. Latham remained unbeaten on 79 and also became the first New Zealand batsman and ninth overall to carry his bat.
Chasing the small total, India made a fine start as Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane added 49 runs for the first wicket. New Zealand saw a slim hope of making a comeback when India lost their second wicket on 62 runs but a 40 runs partnership for the third wicket between Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey effectively ended New Zealand’s chances. India eventually reached the target in the 34th over. Virat Kohli top-scored for the hosts with 85 runs.
The only thing that overshadowed Kohli’s phenomenal performance was hit mistake that saw MS Dhoni getting run out after scoring 21. After Dhoni played the ball towards short cover, Kohli ran down the pitch for a bit, before sending the skipper back, as a result Dhoni was out. Kohli was looking disappointed but stayed till the end to ensure India’s victory.

Two early wickets, including Williamson, puts India firmly on top. New Zealand still look shell-shocked.

Not too long now but interesting to see if Dhoni trusts Pandya enough to be a 10 overs bowler. Else can play Pandya and Jayant Yadav, both
