India beat Bangladesh by 77 runs to save an embarrassing whitewash defeat in the 3-match series to finish with a 2-1 score-line in the favor of the home side.

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and captain MS Dhoni contributed majorly with the bat with almost every other batsman chipping in with every batsman getting into the double digits for the first time this series. Dhawan’s 75 runs off 73 balls and Dhoni’s 69 off 77 balls propelled India to a daunting 317 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, Bangladesh never really looked like chasing down the target as they kept losing wickets at crucial moments unable to build a big partnership which was the need of the hour to chase down such a huge target. Sabbir Rahman top-scored for Bangladesh with 43 while Soumya Sarkar made a quick-fire 40 off 34 balls.

Surprisingly, it was Suresh Raina who was the highest wicket-taker for the Indians with 3 wickets as pacer Dhawal Kulkarni and fell off-spinner R Ashwin each took a brace each.

The loss ends Bangladesh’s home ODI winning streak at 10; the series win against India follows wins against Zimbabwe and Pakistan.

Suresh Raina was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance with the bat as well as the ball ending a 3-match series which the Indian fans would like to forget soon and the Bangladesh fans would savor probably for decades to come.
