Indian Cricket Team To Play 3 ODIs Against Afghanistan In March 2022
These series are scheduled on a home and away basis, among which Afghanistan will play 18 home and 34 away matches, apart from participating in the Asia Cup 2022, ICC T20 World Cup 2022, the Asia Cup 2023, and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
“Out of the 52 matches included in Afghanistan’s schedule from 2022 to 2023, there will be 37 ODIs, 12 T20Is and 3 tests. Considering the fact that Afghanistan will be playing 7 ODI series in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, as well as will participate in four major limited-overs events such as Asia Cup 2022 (T20 format), ICC T20 World Cup 2022, the Asia Cup 2023 (ODI format) & the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023,” the ACB said in an official release.

It’s worth mentioning that the ACB top management alongside the cricket operations team of the Afghanistan Cricket Board is in regular negotiations with the Pakistan Cricket Board to reschedule the postponed three-match ODI series for the Feb-Mar 2023 (Still to be confirmed), which was scheduled to be conducted in Sep-2021 and was postponed indefinitely due to logistical challenges.
Afghanistan will host a three-match ODI series against the Netherlands in Doha, Qatar in January next year, the country’s cricket board (ACB) said on Wednesday. Afghanistan grabbed 30 points after clean sweeping Ireland 3-0 in the first series in January under the ODI Super League, which counts towards qualification for the 2023 World Cup.
Mirwais Ashraf Announced Afghanistan Women Will Play-Cricket
Furthermore, the ACB is in talks with other cricket nations to arrange more bilateral matches for the national team, as part of the ICC Future Tours Program, which will be announced in due course. Afghanistan was supposed to play a single Test match at the Blundstone Arena in Hobart against Australia. However, Cricket Australia postpone the match after the Afghanistan women’s team was barred from playing cricket under the new rule of the Taliban.

On November 25, ACB chairman Mirwais Ashraf announced that the Afghanistan women team will continue to play cricket. The decision came after ICC had appointed a workgroup to monitor the situation of Afghanistan cricket. Mirwais Ashraf played 46 one-day internationals and 25 Twenty20 internationals, his last in 2016.
In the 2021 T20I World Cup, Afghanistan finished fourth on the points table of Group 2 in the T20 World Cup with wins against Scotland and Namibia. They lost their fixtures to India, Pakistan, and New Zealand that dented their hopes to qualify for the semi-final round. In 2018, Afghanistan made its Test debut against India in Bengaluru and the two teams haven’t played each other ever since – except for ICC and ACC tournaments.
