India Tour Is Going To Be A Challenge And We Are Up For It: David Warner

Australia’s batting star David Warner says it will be a huge challenge for the team touring India, but at the same time, he is hopeful the side is capable enough to beat the hosts in their backyard.

The premium left-handed opening batsman Warner expressed the win against India in the four-match Test series next month would bring some sort of satisfaction in the side.

“It’s a real learning curve for our guys now to find a balance between playing the Australian way but (also) adapting that to Indian conditions. The challenges are going to be there for the Aussie team,” Warner told Sky Sports Radio.

On the other side, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli India whitewashed New Zealand by 3-0 last October followed by 4-0 Test series win over England in the five-match series at home.

“It’s going to be a challenge no matter what. They’re so good in their home backyard and for us to play out of our skin, that’s what we’re going to have to do to beat them,” Warner told Sydney radio station 2GB today.

The second time Allan Border Medal winner 30-year-old Warner has stated the team had already chalked out the plan after learning from the 4-0 drubbing against India in 2013.

India in the recently concluded five-match Test series crossed the 400 total five times whereas England has crossed the tally of 400 thrice.

“We talk about batting big and scoring big – well look at England, they did that, and India scored even bigger runs. We’re definitely going to be well prepared and we’re not going to leave anything out there,” Warner revealed.

After the consecutive four Test wins against South Africa and Pakistan, Australia is sitting at Number two in the latest ICC Test Rankings as India is topping the charts.

Warner will not be the part of three-match Chappell-Hadlee against New Zealand. Skipper Steven Smith was also ruled out of the series after suffering an ankle injury.

“We’ve just got to keep grinding away. It is challenging, the summer is very, very long, but I think this time next year you probably won’t have these series on the back-end of our summer,” Warner concluded.

However, earlier former Australian skipper stated the visitors would struggle against spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who had been outstanding performers for the Test side at home. And since 2004, Australia has not won a Test series in India.

The first Test is scheduled on February 23 in Pune.
