Team India will be touring Ireland in August for a three-match T20I series. The series will take place right after India’s tour of West Indies comes to an end. India are scheduled to play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is against West Indies.
On their way back to India, the T20I team will visit Ireland for a short T20I series before returning home. According to a release from the ICC, the series between India and Ireland will get underway on August 18 and finish on August 23.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have not confirmed the dates yet. The ICC, on the other hand, have announced that India and Ireland will play three T20Is on on 18, 20 and 23 August. All the games are scheduled to take place in Malahide.
“We’re delighted to welcome India Men back to Ireland for the second time in 12 months,” Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland said in a statement.
“We saw two sold-out matches in 2022, so to have a three-match series this year should give even more fans the opportunity to enjoy what is always a memorable occasion.
“Our sincere thanks to the BCCI, first, for their continued inclusion of Ireland in the Indian team’s busy itinerary and also for working with us to ensure as fan-friendly a schedule a possible – having matches on a Friday and Sunday will hopefully maximise availability of fans,” he added.
India last visited Ireland in 2022 for a two-match T20I series with Hardik Pandya as the captain. The Men in Blue had won both the games. Ireland came up with good performances in both the games although they could not win any of them.
In the first game, they gave India a target of 109 runs in 12 overs before scoring 221 runs in the second game while chasing after a Deepak Hooda century had propelled India to 225. Pandya is likely to captain the team again while several senior players will be rested. With the World Cup not very far away, most of India’s key ODI players are expected to be rested for the series.
