Rinku Singh is all set to earn his maiden India call-up for the upcoming tour of West Indies. The tour will get underway next month with Team India scheduled to play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is against the home side.
The squads for the Test and the ODI series have already been announced by the BCCI while the T20I team will be announced soon. The series will be Team India’s first T20I assignment after this year’s IPL and few new faces are likely to be named in the team after impressing in the league.
And Rinku Singh was one such player. The Kolkata Knight Riders enjoyed his best-ever campaign in the IPL as he starred with the bat. The southpaw just left the cricketing world awestruck with his stunning power-hitting and finishing abilities. While KKR did not do well and missed out on the playoffs spot, Rinku Singh managed to have a season to remember.
Rinku Singh to be part of India’s T20I squad:
Rinku Singh scored 474 runs in 14 games at an average of almost 60 in IPL 2023 and a strike-rate of nearly 150. He also played one of the best IPL knocks of all time in the last season when he smashed Yash Dayal for 5 sixes in a row in the last over to snatch win from the jaws of defeat for his side.
And he is now all set to be rewarded for his stunning display in IPL 2023. According to a report in the Times of India, Rinku Singh is set to be a part of India’s T20I squad for the West Indies series. The senior players are unlikely to be a part of the T20I squad as they will be given some much-needed rest ahead of this year’s World Cup.
The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been playing non-stop cricket since the start of the year. The report further added that Mohammed Shami will be rested for the T20I series too after being rested for the Tests and ODIs.
