India 'A' Trounce England By Six Wickets In 2nd Warm-Up Game 1

While chasing down the target of 283, India A skipper Ajinkya Rahane (91 off 83 balls) led his team from the front to achieve it in 39.4 overs with 62 balls remaining at the Brabourne Stadium on Thursday.

All-rounder Deepak Hooda remained unbeaten on 23 off 20 balls followed by the left-handed Patna-born Ishan Kishan, who remained not out on 5 off 9 balls.

The 30-year-old left-hander Suresh Raina scored 45 off 34 balls. Opening batsman Sheldon Jackson played an anchor’s role alongside his skipper. Jackson has scored 59 off 56 balls.

The 19-year-old Rishabh Pant has played some fine strokes against England’s experienced bowling line-up. He has 59 off 36 balls.

David Willey, Jake Ball, Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali picked a wicket apiece.

Earlier, England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bat first.

England openers had given a perfect start to their side before they lost Jason Roy (25 off 15) in an ugly fashion as the score was 42 in five overs. Roy was hit-wicket after his helmet crashed into the stumps on the bowling of Pradeep Sangwan.

After the flurry of boundaries against fast bowlers, England raced to 116/1 in 17 overs. Skipper Eoin Morgan went without scoring on the bowling of left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem (10-0-41-2) before off-spinner Parvez Rasool (10-1-38-3) wreaked havoc in the middle-order.

The wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow scored 64 off 65 balls which included ten fours followed by 38 from Ben Stokes.

After facing the slump, David Willey and Adil Rashid added 71 runs for England to reach 282 when visitors were teetering at 211 for nine.

The leg-spinner Rashid scored 39 off 42 balls and fast bowler Willey remained unbeaten on 38 off 30 balls.

Rasool picked up three wickets, whereas, Ashok Dinda, Nadeem, Sangwan bagged two wickets each. Siddarth Kaul settled with just one scalp.
