It seems like Indian cricket is in safe hands. Over the years, India has seen someone rising for the occasion, and this time, it might be from one of the under-19 youngsters.
Of late, the teenagers are making a grand name in the Indian cricket by smashing the records more often than not. The latest addition to those teenagers’ list is the classy right-handed batsman, Pawan Shah.
Pawan Shah’s 282 is highest by an Indian-
Pawan Shah who came to bat at number 3 caught all the eyeballs in the ongoing Under-19 Youth Test. His superb knock of 282 runs saw officials to dust off the record books to script his name.
His 282 is the all-time highest individual tally by an Indian in the Youth Tests. The previous record was held by Tanmay Srivastava who scored 220 runs to his name.
The list also includes the big fishes like Gautam Gambhir, Cheteshwar Pujara who registered best knocks during their times. However, Pawan Shah’s 282 thrashed all of them to sit at pinnacle position.
It was also the second highest individual tally ever registered in the Youth Test. The highest was by an Australian, Clinton Peake who scored a triple century (304*) against India on March 10, 1995.
India tightens the grip of the match-
Apart from Pawan Shah, the other youngster to shine in the match is Atharwa Taide. He registered a fantastic 177 before getting dismissed to Vijayakanth. Nehal is the other batsman who partnered Pawan at late stages.
It would have been a first triple century from India and the second overall if Pawan Shah reached the mark. But, he was unfortunate, as he misjudged a run during his course to Triple.
The superb effort from both the top-order batsman put India on a top position facing Sri Lanka. They registered a colossal 613/8 on the board. Interestingly, the Indian batting scorecard saw four run-outs.
