India v Australia 2017: KSCA To Invite Army Personnel For Second Test 1

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) which will host the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Bangalore, has sent out invitations to personnel of the Indian Army for the game. The game, which will take place on the 4th of March to the 8th of March, could well witness up to 5000 Army personnel in attendance during the 3rd, 4th and 5th days of the game.

The move by the cricketing body was taken in a bid to generate more interest in Test cricket. In the ongoing home season for India, school children have been witnessed at several venues cheering for the side. This has been a move to stimulate more curiosity among Indian fans for Test matches. The crowd turnout for the home season so far has been terrific.

Vinay Mruthyunjaya, the spokesperson of KSCA, confirmed that the board had sent out invites to Army Personnel for the second Test.

“The Army personnel under the Headquarters of Karnataka and Kerala Sub-Area of Indian Army will be witnessing the match for free in Bangalore,” he said.

Mruthyunjaya added that along with the Army personnel, the board would also be inviting over 15,000 school children to watch the game for free. “And the Indian Army Soldiers will be in addition to the 15,000 schoolchildren who are being invited for the Test match,” he said.
