The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15 has come to an end. Australia performed extremely well in all departments of the game and that’s why they won it (2-0).

On the other hand, India were good, but only in patches. They failed to win the big moments and that’s why they lost the series. Their bowling was quite inconsistent throughout the series and with World Cup just 37 days away, their bowlers would have to pull up their socks if India are to defend the title successfully.

Throughout the series, there were some great performances with both bat and ball. But, there was an interesting stat that came into notice. And that is the list of the players who got dismissed for a duck from both the teams. From Australia, only three batsmen got dismissed for a duck and from India eleven, out of which, two were tail-enders. The only batsmen who got out twice for a duck in the series was India’s Suresh Raina. Now let us take a look at the detailed analysis of some batsmen on how they got out on a duck:

1. David Warner-3rd Test: After having scored two centuries in the first Test, Warner failed to score big in second Test and got out to Umesh Yadav in the third Test in the second over of Australia’s first innings.

2. Suresh Raina-4th Test: The first ball of his first Test in Australia delivered by Shane Watson was a half-volley which tempted him to hit a drive, but, unfortunately he edged it back to their wicket-keeper Brad Haddin.

3. Murali Vijay-4th Test: India’s best batsmen alongwith Virat Kohli throughout the series went without scoring when he edged a wide delivery from Mitchell Starc to Brad Haddin on the third ball of India’s first innings.
