India vs Australia 1st T20I: Twitter Reacts As Hosts Sink Visitors To Go 1-0 Up 1

India thrashed Australia by nine wickets (DLS method) in the rain-curtailed first T20I at Ranchi to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Chasing a revised target of 48 in six overs, India were off to a shaky start as Rohit Sharma, after hitting a four and six, was castled by Nathan Coulter-Nile in the second over. However, a flurry of boundaries from Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli eased the pressure on the hosts. The match went right down to the wire with the Men in Blue needing six off the last over but Kohli and Dhawan went on to share an unbeaten partnership of 38 runs to take the team home.

Earlier, the Australian batsmen once again failed to get going as India managed to restrict the visitors.  The team from Down Under, in the absence of their regular skipper Steve Smith, began poorly with stand-in skipper David Warner departing after scoring just 8. However, the in-form Aaron Finch launched a good counterattack to take his team to 49 for one at the end of the powerplay before Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Glenn Maxwell to open the floodgates.

Australia’s middle-order faltered once again as Travis Head, Moises Henriques and Dan Christian departed for single-digit scores. The visitors kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, huffing and puffing to 118 for 8 in 18.4 overs before rain halted the game and eventually ended their innings.
