India vs Australia 2017, 1st Test, Day 2: Twitter Reacts As Australia Take Command Of Pune Test

Riding on Steve O’Keefe’s career-best 6/35, Australia have taken a firm grip in the ongoing first Test against India in Pune. After taking a 155-run lead in the first innings, Steve Smith’s men finished the second day on 143/4 to extend their overall lead to 298.

The visitors did not begin their second innings strongly as Ravichandran Ashwin accounted for David Warner (10) and Shaun Marsh (0). But Smith held firm from one end and scored an unbeaten 59 to help his team grab honors on Day 2.

Earlier, replying to Australia’s first innings total of 260, the Indian team was dismissed for a paltry 105. The hosts began their innings on a poor note as in-form opener Murali Vijay returned to the pavilion with only 26 on the board. 18 runs later, the batting team suffered two huge setbacks after Cheteshwar Pujara (6) and Virat Kohli (0). A 50-run stand between Ajinkya Rahane and KL Rahul for the fourth wicket calmed down the nerves in the Indian camp for a while. But once Rahul got out while trying to play a big shot off the bowling of Steve O’Keefe, the Indian team fell like a pack of cards, losing their last seven wickets for only 11 runs. O’Keefe was the destructor-in-chief as his six-wicket haul helped the visitors take a massive 155-run lead.
