https://twitter.com/bhogleharsha/status/838344071017979905It was another day of hard work for India as Australia, despite inflicting a few blows, managed to safely play out the day with an upper hand over the match.
Resuming on 40/0, the tourists showed immense intent to end the day at 237/6, with a lead of 48 runs to their credit.
‘The other Mathew Hayden’ Matt Renshaw and Shaun Marsh were in the scheme of things as both the left-handers cracked resilient fifties to help Australia’s cause and ensure the lead was taken at any cost. The Indian bowlers, especially the spinners who had their eyes on them, had a grinding day despite the end tally showing six wickets shared between them.
The day began on a positive note as Ashwin foxed Warner to disturb his timber with Australia having added just 12 runs to their overnight score. However, Renshaw (60) and Marsh (66) steadied the ship after a sluggish first session, which saw just 47 runs coming along with a lot of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ from the Indians.
Renshaw garnered huge appreciation for his stay in the middle. He looked settled enough to convert his fifty into a hundred but was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Marsh, on the hand, also gathered runs in a similar way to that of Renshaw and could have ended the day unbeaten. But a concentration lapse put an end to all the hard work as he gave an easy catch to the fielder at mid-wicket.
Apart from their solid batting show, the day was also highlighted by the funny facial expressions of Ishant Sharma, Steven Smith and Matt Renshaw, who all made for a good laugh in between the tense contest.

Just 197 in the day but Australia will consider it a good day's cricket.

India have done well to ensure that the game hasn't run away from them; though the lead is already enough to irritate

I don't know what Aussies have done before this series , but clearly luck is favouring them a lot. Nothing is working for India. #IndvAus

Aussie batters show batting on Indian pitches, shdn't worry too much abt strike rate. Grafting, waiting for loose ball is in order #IndvAus

Bad luck about Marsh, dug in so deep to get out on 66. Anyways Australia has a lead, so any runs now added is a bonus. Come on boys #INDvAUS
