India vs Australia 2017, 4th Test, Day 2: India Take First Session Home After Snail Start
Batsmen KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara successfully tackled early swing and first session jinx to keep hosts on top at lunch on day two of Dharamsala Test. Australia, after bowling just one over the other night, delivered 26 more by lunch and also took the price wicket of Murali Vijay early on.
After negotiating early bruises on day one, India had Australia in the pocket during the first session on day two. Knowing how important it is bat well and deliver in the opening few overs of the day, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul were smart to obey the orders, until Josh Hazlewood provided an important breakthrough of Vijay.
Hazlewood got the reward for sticking to an impressive line and length from the outset. His partner in crime Pat Cummins was spot on with his stock deliveries, bouncers. He did trouble Rahul and Vijay but couldn’t find any success.
Pujara, who was India’s show stopper in Ranchi, looked in some good touch. He had his rocked solid defence right up there and help his bat make sweet noise by hitting few boundaries.
Both the players are in and have their feet jammed, and if they go on to play another ten overs without a losing, the hosts are surely in for a big total.
Brief Score At Lunch On Day 2:
Australia – 300, India – 64/1; KL Rahul – 31*(75), Cheteshwar Pujara 22*(57), Josh Hazlewood 1/16.
