India vs Australia 2017, First Test, Day 1: Retired-Hurt Matt Renshaw Can Bat At Any Time In The Innings 1
Matthew Renshaw will bat in the first innings after earlier leaving the field on due to stomach ache.

Australia batsman Matt Renshaw can come out to bat at any time in the innings, given a wicket falls or any batsman retires in the ongoing first Test against India at Pune.

Opening batsman Renshaw was retired hurt and left the field after he complained about stomach ache during the first session of Day 1. One ball after David Warner was cleaned bowled off Umesh Yadav’s second delivery, the left-hand batsman walked off after having a discussion with the on-field umpires.

Both Warner and Renshaw shared a 82-run stand for the first wicket before the pair were back in the hut, making room for captain Steven Smith and Shaun Marsh. Choosing to bat on a dusty looking wicket, the Aussie batsmen didn’t seem comfortable, as spinners kept things tight on both ends.

Ravichandran Ashwin was handed the ball for the fourteen straight over as Jayant and Ravindra Jadeja shared the remaining slot, leaking some runs. However, it was the pace which did the business for India.

Renshaw, in his 89-ball 36, smoked six boundaries and one six to Jadeja. The rookie was good in his first outing in sub-continent and is expected to return at any point of Australia’s first innings.
