India Vs Australia 2017: Fourth ODI – Indian Predicted XI

Before this series commenced in the heat of Chennai, people expected India to be the favorites and had their worths stacked on the hosts. But no one expected such a massive drubbing of the Australians as things have actually panned out. After the first three games, the series is already decided, and the Aussies at present stare at an embarrassing whitewash.

Bangalore has traditionally been a fortress for India, and it was right at this venue earlier this year, where India turned the Border Gavaskar Trophy on its head with a stunning performance on the fourth day. On a surface that skipper Virat Kohli knows like the back of his hand, one cannot rule out an episode of India’s batting masterclass out here.

Post the win at Indore, Kohli was vocal in suggesting that with the series in the bag, India wouldn’t mind testing their bench strength. Thereby the team combination now will become extremely important and worth noticing. Below, we have a look at the predicted Indian XI for the fourth ODI.

  1. Ajinkya Rahane:

Rahane has been in top form in the series so far, stacking up successive half centuries in his previous two outings. In 2017, Rahane has finally found his groove as an ODI player and the fact that his role now is far clearer and defined, has just helped him to grow as an ODI player. As a whole, Rahane will look to pile up another decent score in Bangalore.

  1. Rohit Sharma:

If signs from Indore are anything to go by, the Australian bowlers better come up with an insurance policy against Rohit Sharma! In the game a few days ago, Sharma looked as flawless and lethal as ever, hitting four massive sixes with effortless ease and grace. It was right here four years ago, when Rohit played that epic knock of 209 against Australia. History could well repeat itself here on Thursday!

  1. Virat Kohli (c):

No one around knows this surface as much as Virat Kohli does! The Indian skipper has polished his game on this very ground and against his favorite opponent, one can expect another fine show from the Indian captain. He might have missed out in the third ODI, but knowing his aura as a batsman, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he compensates for that with a real big one.

  1. Manish Pandey:

In hindsight, one might not rate Manish Pandey’s knock at Indore too highly, but in the context of the game situation, it was priceless. India could have lost the plot had no one supported Hardik Pandya, but Manish stood out with his unorthodox strokes and stood unbeaten till the end. He will be keen to make a decent contribution on his home ground.

  1. MS Dhoni:

Batting at 7 in the third ODI, Dhoni didn’t spend a lot of time in the middle. It would surely be delightful if now Dhoni is promoted up the batting order, like Pandya was in the previous game. With the series already being decided, it makes sense to test Dhoni higher up the order. His numbers at number four are just too good and it will be such an exquisite sight to see him bat higher up the order.

  1. Kedar Jadhav:

Well, to be extremely frank and honest, Kedar Jadhav hasn’t made the best use of all his chances presented out to him. He was caught behind at Indore while trying to run the ball down to third man, without any sense of certainty. His approach of being extremely casual while batting has surely been a negative sign.

  1. Hardik Pandya:

With two Man of the Match awards within the first three games, this series so far has belonged to Hardik Pandya. Sent out on a mission to eradicate Australia’s spin resources, Pandya was extremely successful in his job as he demolished Australia while batting at 4. His approach and determination in a tricky run chase stood out and defined his willingness to learn.

  1. Axar Patel:

Having recovered from the injury which ruined his series, Axar Patel should be back for the remaining couple of games. The all rounder had a decent series in Sri Lanka, where he stood out for his economy and wicket taking ability. Axar will be eager to ensure that his comeback is one smooth ride, against a team that seems too low on morale.

  1. Mohammad Shami:

India’s most prolific pacer in recent times, Mohammad Shami should be back in the playing XI for the last couple of ODI’s. Shami’s ODI numbers are a reflection of his ability as he remains a certain match winner across conditions. With an eye on that mark of 100 ODI wickets, Shami will be determined to make his chances count at Bangalore.

  1. Jasprit Bumrah:

Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t bowled with Shami even once in an international game, and watching this pair share the new ball will definitely make for a great viewing. Bumrah has been simply superb for the side in all parts of the innings. The wicket taking pacer will be upbeat to demolish the Australians further at Bangalore.

  1. Yuzvendra Chahal:

Like skipper Virat Kohli, Chahal too knows this ground quite well, thanks to the IPL connection. Not to forget, it was right here in February when Chahal took a record six wicket haul in the third T20I against England. Another fine performance is expected from the large hearted leg spinner.
