The upcoming few weeks will pose a serious challenge to Australia as the Kangaroos embark on what promises to be a treacherous tour of India. The four-match Test series will again test Steve Smith’s young side, after the Australians were decimated in Sri Lanka not so long ago. Their previous trip to India was no different as the Indian hospitality was evident throughout that tour as a 4-0 whitewash embraced Australia.
With a complete revamp of the Test side, the Australians aren’t surely carrying any excessive baggage and are high on confidence after thrashing Pakistan 3-0 in the recent series. The form of talented young opener Matthew Renshaw will be critical to Australia’s chances this time around.
If the youngster manages to exceed expectations, the visitors will find themselves in a great position indeed. Ahead of the tour, the opener is all set to consult former batting legend Matthew Hayden, about succeeding on Indian shores.
“I haven’t met Matty and I’m looking forward to the occasion when I do,” Hayden was quoted saying by cricket.com.au.
“I don’t know his game intimately enough to tell him to sweep, but you’ve got to have attacking options in India.I think you’re a duck waiting to be shot when you’re in a situation where you can’t attack.
“The conditions are relentless, they just keep coming at you and come at you a thousand miles an hour and you’re seemingly under pressure. So you’ve got to have that circuit-breaker. “If his game is to sweep and he’s decided that’s an option, I would fully endorse that. There’s a certain technique which I’m sure he would have got advice for,” Hayden concluded.
