It is safe to say the focus has firmly shifted from cricket to the DRS controversy in the ongoing four-match series between India-Australia. The past few days have seen the controversy taking centre-stage and one player who has been severely criticised throughout this episode is Virat Kohli.
The India skipper had accused Australia of crossing the line when it comes to DRS protocols. He had blamed the visitors of taking help from the dressing room on at least three occasions before Steven Smith was caught red-handed doing that. Fortunately, the BCCI and the CA have buried the hatchet after a lot of drama but the Australian media as well as some former players from Down Under have targeted the Indian player in the wake of the Bengaluru Test.
However, the Delhi star is not paying any attention to all this criticism. During the pre-match press conference on Wednesday (March 15), the 28-year-old said the criticism does not make any difference since he is ‘not attached’ to all that.
“You move on when you are attached, it is as simple as that. If you don’t get attached to it there is nothing to move on from. It’s not the first time in my life that people have spoken about me and certainly not the last time. I would have done few things right in my career to be given the opportunity to captain the side so as long as you are honest to yourself, work hard on a daily basis, you are answerable to no one,” he said.
“Everyone has their opinions and I am not challenging anyone’s opinions. At the same time, someone who chooses to challenge mine or not, its totally up to them. I am not going to hold a banner saying ‘don’t speak bad about me’. Its fine. Its all a part of the whole journey. No one plays 15-16 years of international cricket without being criticised,” he concluded.
