The legendary Australian bowler Shane Warne has announced his playing XI for the first Test match between India and Australia, which will kick off on February 23 in Pune. Warne has gone with two main pacers in his team in form of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood.

Mitchell Swepson and Nathan Lyon are the two spinners who have been chosen over Steve O’Keefe and Ashton Agar. Swepson getting a place ahead of Steve O’Keefe comes as a surprise but do keep in mind Swepson has been touted to be next Shane Warne of Australia.

Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell are the two all-rounders in the squad. Marsh will be assisting Starc and Hazelwood in the fast bowling duties whereas Maxwell also has the ability to chip in wicket or two at crucial times.

There is no surprise in the two openers chosen by him as both David Warner and Shaun Marsh were the automatic selection for the first Test. Marsh though had a competition with Usman Khawaja but he wins this race as he scored a century in the practice game to keep himself ahead of Khawaja.

Smith will come to bat at number three in Warner’s playing XI whereas Peter Handscomb, who possess a batting average of 99.75 has been slated to bat at number four.
