India vs Australia 2017: Top Five Memorable Moments Of Border-Gavaskar Series 2

It was the unsung hero in the form of KL Rahul, who has given India a perfect start in almost every innings of the Border-Gavaskar series. He failed to score a fifty in Pune where he just managed 10 runs in the second innings, after registering 64 off 97 balls and there on he didn’t look back.

Hosts’ opener KL Rahul was consistent in the series, scoring six half centuries out of the seven innings he had played.

The right-handed batsman Rahul was adjudged the Man-of-the-match in the second Test in Bengaluru, as India emerged victorious by 75 runs to level the series 1-1.

While playing the pivotal role in the decider, Rahul hit the winning runs as India claimed the series 2-1 in Dharamsala.

The 24-year-old Karnataka-born batsman scored 90, 51, 67, 60 and unbeaten 51 in five innings before India registered the eight-wicket win over Australia to reclaim the coveted trophy.

After the hosts were done and dusted by the humiliating 333 runs beating in the first Test in Pune, the disappointed group came back hard at visitors by clinching the series in the decider of picturesque Dharamsala.

It was Ravindra Jadeja, the jack of all trades who had a lion’s share of wickets for India. He scored 127 crucial runs with included two fifties. While rolling his magical arm, Jadeja picked 25 wickets during the series with his immaculate line and length, before being named Man of the series and match.

However, after overshadowing Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja is now leading the ICC Rankings while entertaining number one position. Off-spinner Ashwin had a weakling with the bat, as he was able to score just 53 runs.

However, he often becomes lethal with the ball given to the home conditions particularly in the Test format. He had bagged 21 wickets in the series.

How you could forget Umesh Yadav’s fiery spell in the second innings when he dismissed David Warner and Matthew Renshaw, he has been the key for India in terms of pace bowling.

He bagged 17 wickets in the series before being praised by veterans of the game, after Australia collapsed on 137 in their seconds innings.
