The ongoing raging debate about the entire Steven Smith vs Virat Kohli fiasco has been raging international cricket for quite a while now.
While the two are modern day greats in their style of play and run making, the rivalry in their fan bases is simply at the top, with each base proclaiming their model to be a bigger and better batsman. Recently, former Indian batsman and current commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has sternly admitted that Indian captain Virat Kohli isn’t just better than his Australian counterpart, but also better than everyone else in limited overs.
According to Manjrekar, at present, there remains no one close to Kohli, as the Indian skipper is in a league of his own.
“Virat not better than just Steve Smith in limited overs cricket today but better than everyone,” Manjrekar tweeted, with barely a couple of days left for India and Australia to lock horns in the first game of the five match ODI series.

Also advocating and backing Manjrekar, was 2015 World Cup winning captain Michael Clarke, who admitted that Kohli was indeed a better-limited overs player than Steven Smith.
“In limited-overs cricket, I think Virat is ahead of Steve, but just by that much. Smith, I believe, is a better Test batsman,” Clarke said. “I think over the next few days, everybody would want to speak about Steve Smith vs Virat Kohli, but at the end of the day, it comes down to one thing, and that is the team that wins. It doesn’t matter who makes the runs – Kohli or Smith. At the end of the day, your job as a captain is to win.”
