Riding on combined efforts from MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav and rain, team India went up in the five-match ODI series by a margin of 1-0. Had the three batsmen not performed their duties on time, the score would have been much lower but that wasn’t the case.
Post that, it was some help from rain and the final equation came down to 21 overs and Australia needed a total of 164 to win the game.
The scoreboard pressure was enough to put the Kangaroos under pressure and they could manage a score of 137 after the end of 20 overs. Australia tried to make few comebacks in the game but all were in vain as the mountain’s total was too high for them.
In the end, though they prevented themselves from a total bowl out but lost the game by a margin of 26 runs.
Though it was sort of defeat which might not hurt Aussie most as the rain played its part as well in deciding the result.
Australian skipper had no complaints regarding weather playing its part in the game as he said,
“We bowled very well with the new ball. MS and Hardik played really well. We couldn’t capitualize with the start. The new ball was stopping a bit and some were skidding on. We lost too many wickets in the middle. We can’t control the weather. No complains. Tonight we weren’t good enough and we were outplayed by India. I thought they bowled really well, specially with the new ball. Hopefully they can back up in couple of days time. It worked with the new ball today. It was swinging early.”
