The India-Australia fixture rarely disappoints. The celebrated fixture is always full of sledging, banters, controversies and not to forget world-level contest between bat and ball. The wicketkeeper tried to stump KL Rahul out by a foul way and coped heavy criticism for his conduct. The incident took place in the ninth over. Rahul had hit a shortish delivery from Adam Zampa towards backward point. However, the bails were soon seen lying on the ground.
Many thought that it was a hit wicket and the on-field umpires soon referred it to the third umpire. However, replays showed Carey had broken the stumps with his gloves. The delivery was then declared a no-ball. Carey was left red-faced for his conduct while Rahul got a free hit. To make matters worse for himself, Carey did not admit that he broke the stumps.

The bail went forward so Alex Carey of @CAComms v @india_cricket
should have known he hit the stumps with his gloves. Impossible for the bail to go forward if the batter hits the stumps!!— Adrian Thomas (@a_thomas1958) November 21, 2018

Coming to the game, Australia beat India by four runs to take the lead in the three-match series. Asked to bat first, Australia were 158 for 4 in 17 overs when rain intervened. India were then given a revised total of 174. Shikhar Dhawan’s blistering fifty kept India in hunt but they eventually lost the game by four runs.
